Thesouthwest of the island with its arid and rugged area, is composed of limestonecliffs that provide some of the best views in the world, well known surfingbreaks among the surfers and paradise beaches such as Balangan, Dreamland,Bingin, Padang-Padang, Uluwatu and Green Ball. It is a magic long coastline ofwhite sand dotted with beautiful sandstone cliffs overlooking the ocean at hightide.

Balangan beach is located on the western sideof the Bukit, just one km north of Dreamland, turn left on the main crossroadwith jalan Uluwatu. Balangan is basically a left hand suitable for intermediatesurfers but also for beginners. The waves get perfect when the wind directionis south-east and with mid tide, it is not a crowded spot. If you walk to theright side of the beach you will find the Pura Balangan, the local temple.

Uluwatu, as all the western side spot, worksduring the dry season, from April to October. There are 4 different surf spot:Temples, a long wave that works on the mid to hight tide. The Peak, just infront of the warungs. Racetrack, a super fast wave. Outside Corner wich won’teven break if the swell is not in the 8 range. Uluwatu can get very crowdedespecially during July and August. It has the same name of the famous temple,it is a spot only for good and serious surfers and it is at the top of thesurfer’s destination list.

Padang- Padang only works when there is a bigswell. It’s a particular wave, surfers come from all over the world to ride it,and it is not for evryone. It’s name Padang-Padang refers to the balinesepipline. It has the best waves of Bali and it i salso the most dangerous spotof the island. In Padang-Padang you can meet some of the best surfers of theworld, especially in August during the Rip Curl competion wich select theprofessional surfers that will participate at the contest.

Bingin is the next reef after Balangan beach. The spot works better doing the dry season, from April to October with a swelldirection from south and size 3-5 ft. There is only one small take off area andit gets really crowded during July and August, you will have to fight to get agood wave. It’s a fast wave with barrels, this is probably why it has becomemore popular among surfers, it is not a long wave but it’s pleasent and easy.

Dreamland , unlike the other spots, is a beachbreak, it has right and left hand waves perfect for beginners and not crowded,it is not too shallow and has decent shape.

Green Ball works well with a swell directionfrom south, with mid tide and 4-6 ft. It is a little hard to reach as you haveto follow a stair case of around 500 steps but once you bet there the waves areamazing. Just be carreful with the strong corrent there, it could take awayyour board.

In this tropical paradise you will have thechance to surf with professional surfers, admire their skills and even take acouple of tips for observation or for a meeting in one of the beach bars andrestaurants at the end of the day.

Campervan Tips for Windsurfing in West Australia

After one week of not relly good reef windsurf and kitesurfing in Sanur Bali we boarded a flight to Perth. Either way water sports are very dangerous and have big risk too. For doing water sport in Bali you have to really ready prepare and have the basic skill for reduce any risk. Proper equipment and step by step before you start water sport is important. For proper equipment I may advice to wear standard equipment as your instructor in Bali suggest to you. One of the most popular water sport in Bali is Surfing the waves. Many peoples all around the world come to Bali just to enjoy the good waves. White sand and sunset in Bali beachs just compliment for all surfers.

Surfing in Bali may look easy but don’t get it wrong it is pretty hard for the beginner, that’s way many surfing schools are open in Bali to help the beginner learn how to surf. Surfing in the break beach or in the reef will take a lot of energy because you will fight with the big swell or current so you must paddle very hard for long time. In the most sports before you start into it the best thing to do is to fill up your stomach and bit of stretching. Same way when you will start for surfing you have to drink something before you jump to the water and eat later after your surf session.

If you are beginner surfer maybe you wonder what surfers eat before they jump to the ocean? Actually is really simple snack and off course you can find this food easy. You may surprise if I say banana, but yes! that is true. Friend of mine told me that banana (remember when we was go to school?) is good for bit to eat before you go surfing because banana is a good source of carbohydrates and protein. Full set menu for lunch is better you eat after surfing because it is good to recharge your energy and also isotonic drink is good for you.

There are no rules what you have to eat for surfer, you just have to know what is best for your body to keep it your stamina well during you surfing. It wont be funny you pass out in the ocean, never! Better you pay attention more and eat something before you go to the ocean for surfing. There are many surfers running around in Kuta, Seminyak , Uluwatu or others spot for surfing you may ask to dude what they usually eating before the go to surfing.
After all day you surfing in the ocean you will be really tired and need relax then enjoy the sunset. This is the most common surfers does after surfing is a glass of cold beer in the hand with sunset view on the white sand beach. How cool is that? So, surf safety and enjoy the waves in Bali.

Bali Surf Guide

The island of Bali is one of the most incredible surf spot in the world and has been known for years.
